Autism from an Outside Perspective

As I reminisce back to my elementary school days, approximately during the year of 1968. I was very confused by the behavior of some of my classmates. Some being nonverbal, not talking, making loud noises, yelling, being aggressive, not focusing, or comprehending normal instructions. The teachers would distribute school supplies to the students, but not to those students who were on the spectrum. The teacher did not have any training or support during this time frame. The majority were left unattended and ignored. The other students would laugh and make fun of these students and call them out of their names...... Pre-order Now

About Me

Currently, I serve as a Site Coordinator for Communities In School at the local High School. As an educator, I mentor and promote academic readiness to students for their upcoming college endeavors under the Region 12 and Upward Bound program.

In my previous position, I served over 20 years at the Killeen Independent School District. This position allowed me to become aware of the needs within our community. Concerns such as mental health issues and a sense of belonging encouraged me to be a foster care parent to over 150 children for over a decade.
